why do you do what you do?
I believe that we all play a role in making our world better. It doesn't have to be your full-time job but find a cause that you care about and think about all of the ways that you can support that effort.
what's one thing you hope never changes?
The power of children to work together. From young toddlers to college students, I'm constantly amazed by the ways in which younger generations are able to overcome differences to align around a common cause and then take action for change.
when do you feel most alive?
When I'm with my family (preferably on a beach) with no phones or distractions. We don't realize how much the stresses of work and life pull us down and it is often in times of true relaxation where I feel most alive.
what are you really good at, but kind of embarrassed that you're so good at it?
Holding two children at once (my youngest are 21 months apart).
Also, Chugging a beer - a holdover from my days growing up at the Jersey shore and attending Villanova University.
what's the hardest lesson you've had to learn?
That perfection is not realistic. I always thought I'd be the perfect mom, the perfect professional, the perfect leader. In reality, perfection is so arbitrary and if we focus too much on the ideals set by others then we'll never learn to define our own version of success. I thought I was a failure for a long time until I realized that when living by my terms, I was a superstar.
what's the title of the current chapter of your life?
Chaos makes the world go round.
