NINA OJEDA + PRÊTE
NOV 08 2017 - Have you met Nina? Nina Ojeda recently sold her PR & marketing agency to launch PRÊTE, a membership to blowouts at the best salons in the city. As CEO & Founder, Nina has launched PRÊTE in seven cities to date, but will be in ten cities by the end of 2017! As if her business doesn't keep her busy enough, this native Angeleno is a true animal lover, with three rescue dogs of her own.
why do you do what you do?
Simply, I love making other people feel great. I know I feel the most confident when I feel like my outfit, hair, everything is on point, and I know a lot of women do too! Less simply, I have never had more fun building anything in my entire life! I always loved building brands which is how I got into the agency side of things, but it was truly a happy accident that I fell into PRÊTE. Years before I started, it was a thought that crossed my mind but I was building another business and couldn't do two things at once without staff support, so the idea was shelved. I was fortunate enough to have support this year with my cofounders and my team, or else we would not be where we are today!
what is the best compliment you've ever received?
That I was an inspiration. It especially hit me because I recently spoke to an MBA class at Wharton, and I was so nervous. I didn't go to college, so the fact that I was setting foot at such a prestigious campus was incredibly nerve wracking for me. One of the students emailed me a few days after my talk and told me how I was an inspiration for her to take action and not be afraid to start a career that she wasn't super familiar with. I almost cried, it was the nicest email I have ever received and I was truly humbled by her words. I hope to be able to inspire more people like that in the future!
where do you thrive?
When I'm spinning a lot of plates at once! If I have a packed schedule I am the most productive and energized.
What's the quirkiest part of your weekly or daily routine?
Probably the fact that I work from bed. It's a pretty unhealthy habit honestly, but a lot of my best ideas come to me at night!
if you could only have one app on your phone, what would it be?
PRÊTE, of course! Other than our own, I'd say Saucey - I'm constantly sending thank-you's in the form of bottles of wine, and my fiance is one of the founders.
What's the biggest lesson you learned this past year?
How to be the last to speak. It's an incredibly difficult thing to do, being the last person to speak but I've been practicing as much as possible and I've already seen such a huge improvement in both my work and social lives.
