Leather & Frills: A Vegan Leather Mini
Because “Fall in Los Angeles” and “Vegan Leather” are two of my favorite oxymorons.
Well, it’s September in Los Angeles, so you know what that means. The weather has officially dipped below 80, at night, and Angelinos from Malibu to the Valley are digging in the back of their closets for the sweaters and thigh high boots we’ve neglected since the last time we tried to pretend Southern California has seasons.
If my personal style can be defined by anything, it’s my love for mixing neutrals. Why go all black when you can go black and and brown? Or black and brown and grey and white? (Say I won’t.) I resisted the temptation to go matchy-matchy and paired this camel skirt with a simple black tank and my all-time favorite thigh-highs.
There was a time in which a skirt that emphasized my belly lines like this one does would have sent me running in the opposite direction. You can even see my bellybutton through it in a few of these shots (gasp!). But lately I’ve been choosing to celebrate the softness of all my curves, the ones society encourages me to emphasize as well as the ones it tries to shame me into covering. I love that this skirt adds touch of femininity while emphasizing all the softest parts of me.
